Jednotné číslo (hundred, thousand, million...) použijeme pro určitý počet. Množné číslo + OF (hundreds of, thousands of, millions of...) použijeme pro neurčitý velký počet:

S určitým počtem (= konkrétním číslem) použijeme obyčejnou základní číslovku v jednotném čísle (ten, thousand, million...):

OF v tomto případě nepoužíváme: ten of dollars, one thousand of kilometres, one million of people

Jednotné číslo (hundred, thousand, million...) použijeme i s číslovkou TWO, THREE, FOUR... a také s MANY, FEW, SEVERAL, A COUPLE OF...:

pět set liber

five hundred pounds

dva tisíce korun

two thousand crowns

mnoho milionů dolarů

many million dollars

několik miliard lidí

Pokud vyjadřujeme neurčitý počet (= nekonkrétní číslo), použijeme slovíčka v množném čísle – TENS, DOZENS, HUNDREDS, MILLIONS, BILLIONS, TRILLIONS + OF:

Nikoliv: tens years, ten of years
