Anglické členy (English articles) – základní použití:

I saw a car.
 Viděl jsem auto poprvé, nová informace, používáme A, AN (neurčitý člen).

 To auto bylo modré, mluvíme o TOM konkrétním autě, proto THE (určitý člen).

Před počitatelným podstatným jménem v jednotném čísle:

Mluvíme o něčem poprvé:
